Before the 2013 Frozen 4 this weekend, let’s take a look at the GDI Southeast affiliated goaltenders that made strides and helped their teams to successful seasons.
Starting with the Finals, ECAC Quinnipiac University Senior Eric Hartzell is not only leading the nation in stats, but is up for the Hobey Baker Award as College’s Top Player, while ECAC Yale Sophomore Connor Wilson will support his team in the Finals. WCHA St. Cloud State boasts Freshman Joe Phillippi who works closely with GDI in Minnesota (now PGD). Best of luck in Pittsburgh!
Well documented has been the success of ECAC Brown University Senior Anthony Borelli, who led his team to the ECAC Finals and is now with the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones. CCHA Michigan University Freshman Steve Racine led his team to the CCHA Finals and solidified his spot on the roster for the coming years.
CCHA Miami Ohio University Freshman Jay Williams split time this year and played in the NCAA tournament. WCHA Wisconsin University Freshman Adam Miller backed up his team to the NCAA tournament as well. WCHA Colorado College Sophomore Courtney Lockwood backed his team up into the WCHA Finals.
HE Northeastern University Senior Bryan Mountain played a substantial amount this year and will be returning for a final season. AHA RIT Freshman Ken MacLean, ECAC Harvard University Freshman Peter Traber, and HE University of Maine Freshman Matt Morris also enjoyed successful first seasons with their schools and are sure to be impact players moving forward.
Congratulations to all of our affiliated college goaltenders at all levels for reaching the pinnacle amateur level and becoming successful student athletes. We are honored to be, or have been, a part of your development and we look forward to working with you again soon.
